Coffee with Cass // People I Admire – Suzie Aron

Hump day can be a hard day and so it is my desire to bring you a little inspiration every Wednesday morning. It might be an interview with someone I admire, a book review or even a quote. I hope this lifts you to move forward with optimism and a positive attitude. Cass xxx

Coffee with Cass // People I Admire

I met Suzie for the very first time in her living room just over two years ago. I had just started my business with Arbonne and I will admit at the time I had a lot of ego and actually assumed I knew it all, that I would be so much more business savvy then the men and women I was about to meet. But that initial impression was very quickly crushed !! Suzie was just one of those incredible women who blew my mind with her knowledge, support and encouragement. I have been intrigued by her story since then. Coming from a career as a policy advisor to the premier in state government to an Arbonne Independent Consultant is quite the change. So why the move ?

Suzie we want to know more about you, what makes you tick and what inspires you!!
1. How would you describe yourself in 5 words ?

Curious, learning, vulnerable, tenacious and strong willed.

2. What is your favorite destination in the world and why ?

Anywhere with sunshine – I am completely addicted to the sun and hot weather which is why we moved from Victoria to QLD.

3. What is your favorite color and why ?

It has always been “Red” because it catches my eye whenever I see it.

4. What does home life look like for you?

We are the average Australian family home – 4 people, backyard, school, work etc. However, I read recently that our home serves our functional needs but also the emotional ones which are far more significant. So our family has been doing some fun and important exercises that really set the tone, feel and heart of our home.

5. Tell us about your favorite space in your home and why ?

The kitchen – it is the hub of our home and the space where everyone revolves around. Everything happens here – we eat together, paint, play, talk, cry, listen, drink nice wine – everything!

BUT we also want to know what you are working on ??

6. How did you get to where you are today? What was the journey for you ?

Where I am today career wise is so far from where I ever planned to be. But it turned out to be the best random decision ever. Like most people coming out of University I was ready to make a career out of what I studied and was ambitious to climb the corporate ladder which is what I did. Only to realise 15 years later that it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be and I felt unfulfilled professionally, personally and financially. Out of sheer frustration and desperation not to go back to my career after having my second child, I took a very bold decision to jump into Arbonne. I was the most unlikely candidate as I am not a skincare or makeup person, I was not a salesperson, I had never run a business, I wasn’t a great public speaker and the list goes on. But I trusted my gut instinct to give it a go and I never looked back.

7. Are you doing what you thought you would be doing 10 years ago ? NO!

8. What is your next project ?

I still have a great deal to achieve in my business and I am completely dedicated to helping my team achieve their goals. Arbonne launched into two new markets this year which is very exciting and I have plans to expand our business there. I also have more long term plans to complete my yoga teacher training and there is so much more I want to achieve and am passionate about.

9. What has been your most rewarding thing in your career to date ?

Honestly there were times when I didn’t think I could build this business so I would have to say that I am most proud of building an incredible team of talented, savvy and amazing people who have big goals, dreams and desires! They are the best people.

10. Who are some women / men in business you admire and why ?

Oh my goodness there are so many. I recently attended Tony Robbins Unleash the Power Within Conference and that was fantastic. So Tony Robbins is definetly one because he is an absolute master at what he does and I have learned so much from him. The other person would be Lisa Messenger for championing “entrepreneurs” in Australia and I think she is a fabulous role model.

Leave us with advise you would give to your 21 year old self !!

You don’t need to have it all worked out so just follow your heart as where you start out will be far from where you end. It’s okay to mistakes, in fact make so many mistakes and ask lots of questions because that is where your growth is and you will know you are giving it your all. Keep learning, stay open to possibility and laugh more!
